PRODUCTION

SOKO Potsdam is a German prime-time crime series produced for ZDF, launched in 2018 as part of the long-running SOKO franchise. Max directed two episode blocks for the series, three episodes in 2022 and three in 2023. The six episodes are Wer einmal lügt, Es lebe der Sport, Mensch und Maschine, Matchball, Tod frei Haus and Bauernopfer.

SYNOPSIS

2023: Tod frei Haus (Death Delivered)

English: A food delivery driver is shot dead in a high-rise estate. With no trace of the perpetrator or the bullet, the team delves into the complexities of urban anonymity and hidden motives.
German: Ein Essenslieferant wird in einer Hochhaussiedlung erschossen. Ohne Spur des Täters oder der Kugel stößt das Team auf die komplexen Mechanismen urbaner Anonymität und verborgene Motive.

2023: Matchball (Match Point)

English: The murder of a young tennis talent leads investigators into the competitive world of sports, where ambition and rivalry can turn lethal.

Bauernopfer (Sacrificial Pawn)

English: The precinct is caught up in sports fever as Pauline prepares to compete in the German Police Championships. At the same time, the team must investigate a death that initially appeared to be natural, but forensic examination reveals the man did not die of heart failure.
German: Das Kommissariat ist im Sportfieber. Pauline will an den deutschen Polizeimeisterschaften teilnehmen. Und ein Todesfall muss aufgeklärt werden. Bei einer Leichenschau wurde festgestellt, dass der Mann nicht an einem Herzversagen starb.

SOKO Potsdam is a successful German crime series set in the south-eastern region of Berlin. Working with the show s well-established production team proved highly enriching and allowed Max to further deepen his experience in horizontal crime storytelling. The series is particularly distinguished by its stories being told close to the human experience.
